QED is seeking a talented Investment Accounting Associate at our Accounting Services office in Marlton, New Jersey.
QED Accounting Services provides business process outsourcing to the institutional investment management industry for straight through processing and reconciliation of investment activity, portfolio accounting, and financial reporting. The primary responsibility of the Accounting Services Associate is the maintenance of our client’s investment book of record. Training will be provided for this entry-level position.
The Accounting Services Associate will utilize essential accounting and organizational skills and will work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support portfolio accounting and reporting activities.
- Account for investment activity (purchases, sales, income accruals, corporate actions, etc.) in an accurate and timely manner while maintaining all required controls ensuring overall accuracy of the client’s investment book of record
- Retrieve and process custody bank cash, investment transaction, and position holdings statements
- Conduct and manage account, cash, investment transaction, and position holdings reconciliations against custody bank records and research and resolve reconciliation exceptions
- Process corporate actions and capital events transactions; reconcile activity against custody bank records and research and resolve reconciliation exceptions
- Establish new security master records, investment positions, and asset categorizations while verifying all accounting treatments
- Calculate and verify Net Asset Value
- Calculate and verify investment performance rates of return
- Prepare, verify, and disseminate investment reports and statements
- Communicate with internal and external clients; research and resolve client inquiries
- Verify daily market data feeds from various industry sources
- Perform other related duties as required
Education
- Bachelor degree in accounting, finance or related discipline required;
- Coursework toward a Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement a plus;
Experience
- A minimum of one to two years of relevant work experience in Financial Services, Investment Management or related field is required;
- Investment performance measurement and performance attribution analysis experience is a plus;
Knowledge
- Knowledge of investments, securities, and accounting is required;
- Understanding of performance measurement and reporting methodologies is a plus;
- Familiarity with financial statement and reports processing is a plus;
Professional Skills
- Broad range of experience with computer software, hardware, operating systems (including Sun Microsystems and Microsoft Windows), and web browsers is required;
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and communications skills are required;
- Ability to adapt to changing climate needs and priorities is required;
- Ability to work independently and concurrently on several projects is required;
- Comfortable working on, and contributing to, a dynamic and evolving software platform;
- Excellent critical thinking and multitasking skills and the ability to maintain focus on multiple priorities with a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and assignments is required;
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and discuss problems as they arise, research possible solutions as necessary, and resolve problems in a timely and satisfactory manner is required;
- Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products including the creation of Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations is required;
